International Service

The International Service Committee is committed to addressing global issues and providing our members with opportunities to promote international understanding and fellowship. We support this service by sponsoring/volunteering on international projects, and initiating projects that exemplify Rotary International’s six areas of focus. These are:

Promoting peace

Fighting disease

Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene

Saving mothers and children

Supporting education

Growing local economies

When it comes to implementing a project, creativity and commitment are key. Our Restavek Freedom Project is an example of our club’s passion for doing good in the world. This project focuses on promoting the end of child slavery in Haiti. With the support of our members, our club currently sponsors three children in Haiti to provide food, housing, and education. This project has been a part of our club for years, and our goal is to continue to increase the number of children we are able to support.

Additionally, with relatively small donations on our part, the International Service Committee has had opportunities to be a part of projects that have a meaningful impact on communities and families around the world. This past year alone, our club has been able to provide funding for a project that provides clean drinking water access and employment in Gayaza, Uganda; increase farming productivity in Ermera, Timor-Leste; and help a family build a sanitary toilet in the Philippines- just to name a few. This year, we are also hoping to partner with an international organization to provide solar panels for a school in South Africa.
